Terms of Service

Updated 6 September 2026

This is a courtesy translation. The Finnish version is legally binding.

1. Parties and scope

These terms of service apply to the QRLeap service (the "Service"), provided by IoTera Oy (Business ID 3454475-1, Tampere, Finland, "we"). "User" ("you") means the person or organisation that registers for or uses the Service.

By registering for or using the Service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does

QRLeap lets you create QR codes whose destination address you can change after printing, and track scans of those codes. When scanned, a QR code first redirects to a QRLeap address (qrleap.app) and from there on to the destination you have set.

The Service is free. Every feature is available at no cost. On a free account, scanners see a short QRLeap interstitial page before the destination page, showing the destination's domain. This interstitial can be removed with a paid add-on (section 6).

One account may hold up to 100 QR codes. We may change this limit and the Service's features. We will announce material changes in the Service or by email.

3. Account

You need an account to use the Service. You are responsible for ensuring the information you provide is accurate and that your account credentials remain solely in your possession. The account is for your personal use or your organisation's use, and you are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Anyone under 15 needs a guardian's consent.

4. Acceptable use and prohibited content

You are solely responsible for where your QR codes lead. The Service may not be used for:

  • phishing, distributing malware, or other forms of fraud
  • sharing unlawful content, content that infringes others' rights, or harassing content
  • directing spam or mass communications without recipients' consent
  • misleadingly impersonating another person or organisation
  • circumventing the Service's technical limits, automated bulk use, or overloading the Service
  • any purpose that harms the Service, other users, or third parties.

We do not review every destination page in advance, but we reserve the right to deactivate or delete a QR code or close an account without prior notice if we suspect misuse. Report misuse to qrleap@iotera.fi.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, its design, and the QRLeap marks are the property of IoTera Oy. The images of the QR codes you create and their destination content are yours. You may use the QR code images you create freely, including commercially.

6. Paid add-on: instant redirect

Instant redirect is a recurring subscription that removes the QRLeap interstitial page from a scan. The price is shown in the Service and includes VAT. Payments are processed on our behalf by Lemon Squeezy LLC, which acts as the merchant of record and whose terms govern the payment transaction.

  • Billing: the subscription renews automatically monthly or annually, per your choice, until you cancel it.
  • Cancellation: you may cancel the subscription at any time from the Service's settings. Instant redirect remains active until the end of the paid period, after which the interstitial page returns. Your QR codes and every other feature remain unchanged.
  • Consumer right of withdrawal: if you are a consumer, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Finnish consumer protection law from the start of the subscription. Because the add-on is activated immediately at your request, a withdrawal is charged pro rata for the time used. Send withdrawal requests to qrleap@iotera.fi.
  • Price changes: we will announce price changes at least 30 days in advance. A change takes effect at the start of the next billing period.

7. Availability and limitation of liability

We aim to keep the Service continuously available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. The Service is provided as is.

For the free service, we are not liable for indirect damages, such as lost revenue or reprinting costs, arising from a service outage or error. For the paid add-on, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the current billing period. These limitations do not apply to liability arising from mandatory law.

8. Account termination and data

You may delete your account at any time from the Service's settings. When an account is deleted, your QR codes stop working and your personal data is deleted in accordance with the privacy policy. Scan statistics are retained only as anonymised aggregate figures.

We may close an account that has been used in violation of these terms, or an account that has been inactive for 24 months. In the latter case, we will notify you by email 30 days in advance.

If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give at least 90 days' notice so you have time to replace printed codes.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will announce material changes in the Service or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes are primarily resolved through negotiation. A consumer has the right to bring the matter before the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi). Before that, it is worth contacting Consumer Advice (kkv.fi). Otherwise, disputes are settled in the Pirkanmaa District Court.
